“ I’ve been going here for over 8 years now. It’s my favorite sushi spot in town and always a fantastic experience. The place is small so doesn’t get all the attention like other sushi restaurants in the area. World class food run by an amazing family who treat you like a friend visiting their home. Take your time here to enjoy the atmosphere, imported sake, delicious rolls, and fun decor. You can’t get better than this place, everything is carefully prepared with love. ”
“ Mazi sushi is my new favorite spot in town! With over 30 years of sushi mastery, Mazi is serving up some of the best cuts of fish in town, hands down! Could not have had a better experience at a sushi bar, must go! ”
“ Just wow! Mazi and his team are friendly, attentive, kind and provided a fun and memorable experience. This is hands down the best Japanese selection of sushi (especially Salmon) that I’ve had dollar for dollar. Recommend sitting at the bar and ordering all the specials - yes, all of them. The aged Salmon with the variations offered are all so so good. We did order one roll, but honestly did not need to. ”
“ Sushi Mazi’s high end environment and kindness created a beautiful experience for me! The chefs and hosts are so generous. Plus the food is top notch! The Volcano roll has a nice spice sizzle to it. Highly recommend. ”
“ Incredible taste to all of our dishes. Sat at the bar and had a fantastic interaction with the chef!! A ”
“ I love this place!! Have been three times now & have had some of the best sushi I've ever had & excellent service!! We were curious and ordered the Pop Rock Roll & it was amazing!! Everything was so good! Definitely recommend!! ”
“ This was our first time at Sushi Mazi, but we did read about them online and their grasshoppers, which we wanted to try and were also a first. Both experiences did not disappoint. In fact, everything was delightful. We decided to sit at the sushi bar with it being our first time and wanting some guidance from the chefs. We went on a Tuesday night, and we were lucky enough to have Mazi himself making our sushi. Looking through the menu, it was hard to decide which rolls to pick, and Chef Mazi was happy to make some suggestions that were perfect for our first time. We had the Torch roll and the love me roll in addition to a grasshopper each and some tempura. We wanted to try some new things from their blackboard, which included a number of aged fish options. Something we haven't tried before. Mazi was happy to answer all of our questions and guided us through our choices. We tried the aged salmon toro, the spicy aged tuna, and the two other preparations of salmon, both aged latte salmon and shinjuki? Each and every bite was full of flavor with the perfect balance that melted in your mouth. If only we could fit in more. We did save enough room for a special gelato that Chef Mazi collaborated with local gelato maker Gato Gelato to develop the perfect combination of sweet and tart. We had the sweet cherry and yuzu, which was the perfect end to a memorable meal. We will be back! Eager for more. And i would be remiss not to mention the excellent selection of sake. I wish i had more pictures of the beautiful presentations, but everything was so good. I ate all of it before I thought to take pictures. I did manage to snap a couple. ”
“ I’ve been visiting Sushi Mazi for over 5 years now and the consistent quality, incredible fish and sake selection, attention to detail and lovely caring team has brought my partner and I back time and time again. The rolls are all great (get the salmon skin roll you won’t regret it) but the nigiri and sashimi are where it’s at! Perfect fish with delightful accents and Marc nails the fish to rice ratio on the nigiri every time. Sake selection is also on point! There are always new bottles to try and varieties to fit every preference or pallet. Chef Marc and his family have created a unique local gem. Sushi is my favorite food and Sushi Mazi is my favorite place in Portland to get it. ”
